Beet Rice Ball ビーツおにぎり

Enjoy the fragrance of fresh lime and the vivid colour of beets!
彩りや香りを楽しむ素敵な新しい感覚のおにぎりですよ!

Ingredients (日本語は英語の後にありますよ)

  • Sushi Rice (Sticky Rice) 1 cups 
  • Half a beet  or more if you like dark red beet colour on your rice balls
  • Fresh Lime Juice  1 lime (or more if you like the taste so much: Beet and lime goes really well!)
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp or to taste  

Step 

  1. Cook rice in a rice cooker. If you don’t have a rice cooker, then here is the quick instruction – the ratio for cooking rice is: 1.2(water) : 1 (rice). Soak rice for at least 30 minutes. Put the rice and water in a pot and start to cook. When the water boils, immediately turn the heat down to mid-low, and cook for about 10-15 min. When all the water soaks into the rice and the rice puffs up, it should be ready. Unlike other kind of ride, sticky rice doesn’t need a stir while cooking. Remove the pot from the stove and leave it another 10-15 min without taking a lid off. 
  2. Cut/slice beets into a small thin/skinny pieces and add some salt (good salt – generous amount. I say generous amount because depending on the salt you use, the taste varies. For instance, I find some pink salt is less saltier than other natural salt. And some people like salty – really salty – and some don’t. So you kind of have to improvise here! ) , and add some fresh lime juice. 
  3. When the water from the beet come out, add hot rice into the beet. Mix it well, but as if cutting the rice with a spatular. If you “mix” it too much, the rices gets way too sticky! 
  4. Put some rice on your palm and use the other hand to make a ball. Avoid squeezing too much! 
  5. Done! Enjoy those beautiful rice ball!

材料

  • ビーツ 適量
  • 炊きたてのごはん 適量
  • ライム 1個くらい (ライムの汁を使います)
  • 塩 (美味しい塩を使うことをお勧めします)

ステップ

  1. ご飯を炊く。この時に、少し塩を入れておく
  2. ビーツを千切りにしてボウルに入れて塩をまぶす。
  3. ライムから汁を取り出して、ビーツのボウルに入れる。
  4. ご飯を適量ボウルの中に入れる。ご飯が少なければ、ピンクの濃さがますし、多ければ、白っぽくなります。
  5. 適量を手に取りにぎります。お好きな形にしてみてください。ハート形もかわいいですよ!
